Background

Paul Breckon Steel Fabrications is a Private Company of which Mr Paul Breckon and wife Anne Breckon are Directors. The Business commenced operations in April 1986, initially as a mobile Engineering business carrying out on-farm maintenance of plant and equipment. Expansion of the business created the need to establish a fully equipped Engineering Workshop which was achieved during 1988/89. The business now operates as an Engineering shop, primarily manufacturing products and servicing the needs of the farming and mining communities in and around Clermont. In this capacity, the company manufactures a full range of Cattle Handling Equipment, stick rakes and earthmoving accessories. The business has successfully developed a range of roller mills, horizontal/vertical feed mixers, calf/weaner cradles and an extensive range of crushes manual and pneumatic, being marketed under “The Big Red Range”.

Our Vision

To be recognised by our customers as a company that continually strives to be a leader in the rural industry through innovation and value for money for our products. We will achieve this through our dedication to our customers, continued research and development, and working with our customers to follow market trends.

About Clermont

The town of Clermont is one of the most historic towns in northern Australia, having a colourful past, rich in drama and laced with tragedy. It was in fact, the first inland settlement in the tropics making it a frontier town in the truest sense of the word. The township was established on the northern banks of Hoods Lagoon in 1862, following the discovery of gold. It was re-located to its present location, after the devastating great flood in 1916 in which 65 citizens perished, and the entire business sector was destroyed.

Today Clermont is a well established community based on the Cattle, Grain and Coal Mining industries. The Municipal Saleyards were constructed in 1981 to cater to the growing Beef Cattle Industry needs. These Saleyards are part of the Clermont Showgrounds/Saleyards complex, recognised as one of the finest facilities of its kind in Queensland.

Coal was first discovered in Clermont in 1864 when a seam of coal was penetrated when sinking a well on Blair Athol Station. The small township of Blair Athol developed in conjunction with mining operations. Relocation of the Blair Athol residents took place during the mid to late 1970’s to make way for a larger export market. In 1981 Blair Athol Coal Mine began exporting to Japan. Today they are Australia’s largest single exporter of steaming coal with 30 metre seams.

A Letter from The Managing Director Paul Breckon

The team at Breckon Cattle Equipment have worked very hard over the years to become a leader in the manufacture of Cattle Handling Equipment. All our equipment is custom built to suit the individual needs of our client’s. Over the many years of monitoring our equipment, through rigorous testing and client feedback, we believe that we have created a line of equipment that will handle most situations regardless of environment, location or herd size. We are proud of the fact that when you use our equipment, every day yard work will become a little easier.

Over the past ten seasons, Breckon Cattle Equipment have developed and successfully marketed a range of pneumatic equipment, for use in bull depots, feed lots, live export depots and large commercial herds.

Our latest piece of equipment is the Pneumatic Branding Cradle, which has been operating for five seasons now. This has been developed to take the gut and back busting work out of the branding season. Those of our client’s who have already purchased one of these units have been extremely happy with its performance, and would have no hesitation in discussing its features and working procedures with any future buyer.

At Breckon Cattle Equipment we are constantly monitoring market demands and design features to meet the always-present work place health and safety of employers and their employees.

When we design our equipment, animal welfare is always taken into consideration, as sharp edges and square corners can cause much discomfort to the beast, and in the long run will result in extra costs to the owner. With this in mind, we are always looking to better ourselves and are always willing to listen to comments about our equipment whether good or bad so we can be 100% confident our equipment will be an asset to your operation.

With this we look forward to the future bringing us new challenges and projects.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Breckon
Managing Director
