As a cattle vet I’ve worked with all sorts of crushes and have the scars to prove it. When we rebuilt three sets of yards on “Valera Vale” we were looking for crushes and scale boxes that were engineered to be strong and safe for man and beast not just while relatively new but out into the future.
As breeders, bullock fatteners and herd bull producers we work our crushes pretty hard. We were impressed with the strength and quality of fabrication and by the fact that the crushes are engineered not to fail using quality materials, grease points, bisalloy wear strips and easily replaceable wearing components etc so that we won’t have to put up with half worn out crushes.
The Breckons weren’t the cheapest crushes we looked at but they represented the best value over the long term.

We purchased a Pneumatic Weaner Cradle at the end of last year because of the fatigue in our men branding large numbers. Branding is still long and a job, now however it is not hard. The job on the head is much easier on the back because you are working at waist height, also the door that opens upwards for branding etc protects the man on the head from being kicked. The cradle is quiet and the whole job requires a lot less muscle.
